Just bought a multi-owner 05 V50 T5 FWD. It has a few issues I'm sorting first before I start to "personalize" it.

It comes with...

1.One leaking radiator hose (after a full service )
2. One leaky shaft boot. Does the MK2 Focus driveshafts fit the V50? Roll bars?
3. Roof rust (The dreaded screen one - New roof skin is $800 so lets hope it's salvageable, and
4. A left wing mirror that doesn't work and a right one that seems to have hiccups when adjusting. Are the facelift mirrors any bigger? Can you swap em out because the 05's are tiny.

Any advice for a Volvo newb?

PS: First "mod" was removing the foam and glue the previous owners used to stick down the plates  Essentially been there since 05!

Top foam layer loosened/melted with Castrol DWF; I'd normally use WD40 to loosen the glue but didn't have any laying around.

The glue carnage. Soaked it in DWF for 30 min and removed with finger nail.

Done and dusted! There are some annoying (small) scratches where the previous owners started trying to take it off but otherwise I'm pretty happy.

Just my .02 - why don't you get the roof vinyl'd - as long as the rust is under it, it would remain sealed and not spread further unless you live in a bad humidity/salty area. Would be cheap and easy to do given the location. Would also be good for a plastidip spray and you could peel it off when you're ready to deal with the bodywork requirements.
