Hello, I am a new member of this community so forgive me if I posted in the wrong place.

I recently just bought an 04 s60r and it has some issues popping up which I was not aware of when I bought it, initially the guy told me there was a leak above the rear left passenger door and the back seat against the left door appears to have some water damage on the seat, I was okay with that figuring that I could likely fix that with a seal or something (if anyone has an idea where that leak could possibly come from, I would be grateful for getting a general idea where this could be leaking).

However, what I was not aware of is when it started raining the other day, I went outside and opened the driver door and was greeted with a nice large puddle of standing water sitting beneath the pedals, unfortunately I was parked facing downwards on an incline which only exacerbated the issues which I'm having since that rainy day which consist of:

•rear brake lights not turning off (only the two rear brake lights, the center middle light works fine)

•Anti-skid temporarily disabled popping up on the dash notification screen

•"critical brake failure stop safely" popping up on dash notification screen

•constant "check brake light" or "bulb failure" notifications on dash screen (all lights seem to be in working order, just not functioning correctly)

•Chassis service settings required popping up on screen (might have been there before the leak, but still curious as to what may cause it)

So my theory of the issue is that the rubber seal under the plastic casing of the CEM next to the drain under the divers side of the windshield failed, so my course of action to remedy the issue was to remove the cover completely and to seal it with silicon both under the casing and on the lid around the whole area (hopefully it solves the leak 🤞🏼). I have already replaced the brake switch and adjusted it and the lights still don't turn off so I know that isn't the issue.

My questions are, am I correct in assuming water corrosion on the CEM is causing the brake lights to remain on, is there anywhere else above the pedals on the front left side which would allow water to seep inside, and what are the chances of my CEM being ruined due to water corrosion? If I do end up having to replace or repair the CEM, where can I have it shipped to get it done. I was watching a YouTube video from a channel named Peppermint which he said there is a place online where I can have them connect to my computer and use my dice scanner remotely to flash a new CEM.

Depending on the cars Structure Week it may have the late 2004/early 2005 style CEM that had known bad cowl covers and seals.
When water got into those I know for certain it can cause the brake lights to stay on.

Because it causes severe corrosion of the wire terminals and connections to the CEM the factory warranty fix was to replace the CEM and the front wire harness.

There is an advertiser here xModexX or something like that who is said to be able to re-conn your CEM but would think the wire harness has long been obsolete.

I appreciate your help and wisdom, funny thing is I ran across the xemodex video on YouTube on how to remove the CEM right after it happened and was wondering if I could send it to them. Since then, I have found their information, thank you!

However I haven’t actually found the cause yet. Still getting water somewhere and it’s not the CEM junction/harness as far as we can tell.

That really sucks man, is there anywhere else that could be exposed to the elements like that on the firewall? It seems like since I completely sealed the case and the lid it seems to have repaired it (so far). I washed the car and held the hose over the CEM housing, figured I couldn't hurt it much more lol.

Have you happened to see if the roof drains are clogged at all? That was another factor which likely contributed to leaking for my car. I stuck about 3 ft of wire and weed-eater string down the roof drain and it had significant blockage.
