Hi there,
My 04 R hammers from 2nd down to first when coming up to a stop street. This is only after driving about 5km and it doesn't do it when the engine is cold. I tried going manual but also, it gives a kick when going 2nd to 3rd or 2nd to first. The rest of the gears are perfect. If I change at revs as low as 2500 up to 3rd or down to first, it knocks quite badly.
Volvo suggested I throw my box away and buy another one . Yeah right.
I was thinking possibly a solenoid or 2 being faulty or dirty? Perhaps the torque converter? There were no TCM codes when Volvo checked it and I have flushed the gearbox and loaded CPU updates from Volvo with no change.
Any ideas would be of great help. Thanks

185 000km
The knocking has been there for about 8 000km and I have just replaced the engine mounts. I am pretty sure my engine mounts will break again if I do not find the problem with the gearbox.

Sounds like the valve body is going out.
Re: 04 GTR Geabox Problems? (Franky)

After some researching, I found that it is a crap job but I don't need to remove the gearbox. I can take the valve body out and clean it. If it is dirty, it will cause the gear shifts to knock.
The knock is as if it is changing too quickly.
Does anyone have any other ideas? I might just send it in to a gearbox place but I know they are going to charge me an arm, leg & a tooth for this.
