Re: “Cold air Intake” box seal + Filter (Lotus esprit S4s)

Do this:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=55492
Using a BMC (or the IPD filter you have the link to) and the stock airbox, you will have all the air you need.
Personally as far as sound, I could not tell the difference with the stock filter with or w/o the sock and the BMC except for being able to hear the turbo a little better.
-Ben

Re: “Cold air Intake” box seal + Filter (bcantana)

That seems to be complicated for me to start from scratch, what I was thinking is to have mandrel bent a custom intake that sucks air from the same place as the CAI
Re: “Cold air Intake” box seal + Filter (Lotus esprit S4s)

I am not a DIY person and it took me about 5 hours to do. Never used a dremel before and just followed the "write down the order in which you take stuff off and put it back on in reverse" approach.
To each his own, but if you are inclined to build/buy a "hot air intake" that is your perrogitave. If you are going to go that route, check with some of the Evolve guys. Evolve has a "shroud" to go around the HAI that seems to be sealed by the hood. You still have to get air in there. The stock vent just does not seem to provide enough flow of air from outside the engine compartment.
Just trying to help out and help you avoid spending money on something with questionable gains.
It "looks" cool though.
When you take the car into the dealer for service, it is going to stand out like a sore thumb. If you have a "mod-friendly" dealer there should be no issues.
-Ben
