P3 Volvo's from 2011-2014 have a backup camera fault. Some do it, others do not. Our 2011.5 XC60 is fine but our 2014 S60 had the issue since we bought it last year.

Volvo sells a "equalizer" for $170-$260 which is plain absurd to me. P/N 31471726 | I was going to make the purchase when a fellow forum member posted this fix in a thread about the equalizer.

The fix entails these Ferrite Beads. Don't ask me how it works! All I know is it reduces some of the higher frequencies, somehow. $7.99 on Amazon with Prime. Link below.

Once they arrive, find the size that works best with the cable in the trunk. Said cable pictured below. The two black things above and below the blue connector are the beads. It is possible that your earlier car doesn't have the cable meeting point where it is on my facelift car. If it does it's on the drivers side behind the tail light. Otherwise, If it does not then it is likely under your passenger seat.

Once you wrap two Ferrite Beads around the cable be sure to close everything up and enjoy your fault free rear view camera. I tested it by leaving the car with the camera facing the sun on a 95 degree, indicated, day for an hour plus and it did not flicker at all afterwards.

Hope this helps you and saves you from the frankly insane price from Volvo. The price to predicament ratio is beyond unreasonable. Land/Range Rovers own fix with a near identical equalizer for the P3 based chassis LR2 is nearly $100 less. Kind of a scam in my view from Volvo.

      ~Hi,

Saddly my experience with ferrites did not solve the problem. I have a V60 PHEV, Y2013, and I finally decided to buy the Land Rover equalizer because it's much cheaper than Volvo counterpart.
Bought form WOX parts, Letonia, as I'm in Portugal, so Euro zone purchase was easier for me.
It arrived today, mounted and problem solved!! The part number is LR031216 and was mounted under driver seat, just inline with the end cable at the receiver input. My car does not have the cabe accesible in the trunk, or maybe is very well hidden...
No adaptation needed, just plug&play, the cable blue connector fits perfectly in the equalizer blue input and the small patch that comes with the equalizer does the other path of the connection (from brown equalizer output, to the blue receiver input).
      Hope this can help others.
