The exact bulbs I used are the 5-SMD White High Power LED Car Lights Bulb by AGT from Amazon. They come in a pack of 10 and free shipping! For cabin lighting, I used the Philips XtremeVision 4000K T10 which also stay dimly lit if you swap all four courtesy lamps.

Thanks for the link. I purchased some and they do indeed stay on a little bit but sadly this level is not bright enough for any noticeable ambient lighting effect. Volvo must use PWM for dimming and obviously must be sending very short pulses all the time so ambient lighting of these footwell lamp is a possibility. A simple Sensus option could enable this feature. They just need to send longer pulses to the lamps. Maybe in Sensus 4.0 lol

There are no error messages on the cluster, no hyper flashing, and no dimly lit bulbs like the Philips and other brand of T10 LEDs. BTW, in my quest for the perfect LED bulb, I also tried a set of AGT (Advanced German Technology) T10s which turned out to be no better than the eBay variety but at a premium price. I do not have a DICE so I do not know if the ECM stores an error code but I highly doubt that it does. I remember having the ignition on while I removed one of the license plate lamps and no error codes were thrown. You can try it yourself prior to ordering the LEDs. Have fun!
