Seems could be a CC wagon likely named XC50. Power train is based on LYNKCO PHEV (08?). HMI could have some input from ECARX and MEIZU.

Very exciting. Could sell a lot in Europe. Wish could come to USA. My dream car.

Oops, it is a China-Only model. And many news reports on this in Chinese disappeared after only one day.

Scope of that article is quite broad - worth reading. And it concludes with this -

"Volvo's electrification strategic objectives are similar to those of first-tier luxury brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi, and its execution is even slower... Volvo's indecisiveness may have already cost it the first-mover advantage in challenging its competitors."

From
From p82 of "News and information on the next-generation Volvo’s"

First letter, brand
V = Volvo
P = Polestar

First digit, size
3 = Small
5 = Large
6 = Xtra large

Second digit, generation
1-N

Third digit, type
1 = Sedan
2 = Estate
6 = SUV
7 = Coupe SUV
X = Cross Country

V446

4 isn't assigned so somewhere between 60 and 90 cluster for example?
4th generation
6 SUV

XC60
V436 = 3rd gen XC60, GPA/SEA - now SPA-3. Unconfirmed if SPA-3 = SPA-2 update + megacasting or SPA-3 = Volvo's version of SEA
V426 = 2nd gen XC60, SPA

So something similar to XC60

Noted you've called it XC50 so we've come to a similar conclusion :)

comments of “will develop” and “start of production 2025” in reality that means this has been in development for a few years if the start of production refers to 2 or 3 stages prior to actual customer production car start of production (SOP). Stages which follow include early development prototypes then validation prototypes and finally pre-production cars. Of early 2025 is customer cars then this project started 3-4 years ago.

I suspect this is an XC60/ EX60 product offering a new non-EV for this segment. EX60 based on SEA or SPA-3 is presumably way too far along in development to now add ICE/PHEV version (albeit both platforms are capable of this in principle).

Plus facelifted SPA XC60 wouldnt cut it (in China) given the older infotainment system even in latest form. Hence adopting Geely's latest one. But presumably its good enough for Western buyers.

There was an article about a new Lynk & Co model using their new EM-P drivelines, CMA-2 and article said it would lead to next generation XC60. We all widely critiqued the article as nonsense. New XC60 is SEA or SPA-3. Not CMA-2.

in the end it looks like there will be three XC60 / EX60 siblings (not in name but in terms of size) in production at once

XC60 SPA heavy facelift
EX60 SPA-3 / SEA (TBC) EV only
XC50 / V446, CMA-2

Volvo's had some ups and downs with leadership and direction. I've been a big fan of them going all EV and doing it sooner than later. They wimped out and it will cost them significantly. Allocation wise they're pushing more PHEVs, which could be fine, but they're leaving us very short on the actual in demand MHEVs. They've honestly forgotten the first rule of selling cars is to make cars. We don't have enough gas cars on ground, we don't have any EX30s and we have single demo EX90 that's not for sale. It's sorta a wonder we aren't seeing more dealers sell their franchises as it often feels like amateur hour with Volvo Cars USA. They are small enough that they could have been successful in all EV. I agree though that by stalling they no longer have a competitive advantage there. Being frank, it wouldn't surprise me if the long term implications of it are bad for Volvo. We have some great products but we nether have the volume to sell more cars now, nor the speed to transition tin order to stand out in the future. Slowness and caution don't work well for a small company on the global level, you get beat out by everyone else that way. There has to be a "why". Volvo needs a strong vision statement that their corporate planners engineers all the way down to little old me selling the things can see in our current production and be excited about for the future.

You know ... if it's on the internet it must be true ...

I know of the one between 60 and 90 but have never heard of between 40 and 60.
One between 60 and 90 being the 3rd Volvo on the SPA-2 platform? and the 4th car on that platform.

EX90
ES90
3rd sibling

EX60 being SPA-3 which seems an evolution of SPA-2 with megacasting too rather than Volvo's version of Geely SEA

Yes, that's exactly what SPA-3 is. The 4th car on SPA-2 is the Polestar 3.
