New Messages App - Disable text preview?

The new "Messages" app shows a preview of the actual text message that someone has sent. Before this new app it just showed the sender's name. Is there anyway to disable that function? This seems problematic. A passenger in the car can see not only who is texting, but what they are saying...seems like a major privacy issue? Thanks

Perhaps the only solution is to connect by wire to iphone so that Carplay takes over...I believe it does not show text message preview?

only other thought is to manually disable "show notifications" on phone but that is rather inconvenient.

I have realized that the new message app did not change anything. When the car is stopped, an incoming text message does display the message content...however, when the car is in motion...it does not...it only says "new message." From research I see that this is not new behavior. Still, it would seem like it would be nice to turn off display message content when the car is standing still...there may be someone in the car who you do not want to read the content of a sender's message.
