Something else to consider is that the harmonics of the in cabin exhaust note in the T8 are modified by the noise cancellation system. I believe that it’s only in Polestar mode and it may not work as well with a non-OEM muffler.
Are you saying the speaker is amplifying the exhaust noise?

If you need a hand with the rear end conversion. I will be glad to help and I have a set of quickjack in the garage.

Thanks. With three kids I’m expecting my conversion to be done 30 minutes at a time over a couple of weeks, sometime between 11pm and 2am! :)

I DO need to find that step by step guide though on what to remove in what order and when to cut the exhaust tips, etc. I think you uploaded something along those lines?

I PMed you the link to the instruction a few days ago already.

This one?

If so - thanks. Could have sworn I’ve seen one somewhere that details the process of removing the stock rear end (with all the clip locations, etc) and tells you where to cut the stock tailpipes so that the angled replacements can slot on at the right position. Maybe I was imagining that though. 👍

I got under the car and can easily see where the clips are. There's a dimple on the tailpipe about 2" out from the muffler. That's where you make the cut.

Great - thanks. I’m sure it’ll seem much easier in the flesh; I haven’t been up close with a 2023/4 V60, let alone underneath one.

I also haven’t had a chance to have a good look at the conversion parts I got from volvopartsca.ca which would probably be a big giveaway in terms of determining which of the stock trim pieces needs to be removed first, second, third, etc, how they’re held on, etc. Or when in the process the stock tailpipes are cut or how the new tailpipes are attached to the muffler stubs (someone mentioned a spot weld, other folks say not necessary - I’m presuming simple 2” exhaust clamps).

Hoping to receive the car within the next month.

Not amplifying as much as deepening the tone. It’s mentioned in the owners manual and you can test it yourself by opening any window slightly while in Polestar mode which must disable it because the tone will change.

I tried opening the exhaust flap permanently by disconnecting it while open in an attempt to emulate that same exhaust tone in non-Polestar modes and it sounded course and unpleasant to me - not at all like the deep muted sound that you get in Polestar mode.

When you live the speed changes so often? That sucks i would have few tickets by now if I had to keep changing it so many times.

will mess with the car and let you know if I find anything
Some of my roads can change multiple times over a mile, as much as 15mph. 25-40-45-35, nuts.
BUT that super slight flashing doesn't even register with me anymore, unless I'm actively looking at/for it, I don't notice it at all. But when in a new area, it is kind of nice.

The tail pipes comes with exhaust clamps already.

There are 2 things missing under the hood compared to the earlier cars. Which includes the hood insulation and the radiator support plastic cover. I decided that the engine bay looks a lot better with the cover. So here it is.

Without it

With it (missing a decal as it got damaged in shipping)

I didn't do the insulation as that piece tend to attract rats. But I do kind of want it too...lol
interesting is this a Canada thing ? never heard of it to attract rodents. The wires insolation is biodegradable and that’s what attracts rodents but I park inside never had issues.

The rats completely ate up the hood insulation in my old truck and started eating up the one on our Touareg too. I plsce dryer sheets under the hood now and change it out every 3 months. The rodents hate that scent.

Wow that sucks how long did you had it just parked there?

These cars were driven almost every day The rat issue is pretty bad on the west coast.

Sorry about that. Not sure if it would work on mice but in Germany they mount this noise machine that you can’t really hear and it will keep animals away.

Genius! Much better then screwing around with poisons and screwing up the ecosystem.

First time I walked by it I’m like what’s this low pitch noise and what’s the source and my coworker explained it to me.
