I'm pushing 60, and went from a 392 Challenger to this Volvo and it is dang near as quick off the line, maybe even quicker on normal pavement initially. They just repaved some of RT 30 near my house, and in Power mode, with Traction control off/sport mode/esc off/whatever, the fronts let out a VERY high pitched squeal on the brand new pavement, as the rear EV kept it moving and hooked up. I was pleased!
Haha, that's awesome.

I think my brain broke, how do you "hold" in Pure mode? Or more accurately, how does the car interpret holding in Pure mode?
Your vehicle cannot drive in PURE mode with HOLD. P4X4 has a pre-ER vehicle. With the extended range forward, PURE is basically a BEV mode - it draws only on the battery. So, hold is nonsensical. For P4X4, PURE is more of a "green" mode and can activate ICE and burn (or not burn) battery.

Ah, thanks for that clarification. That was my confusion, driving on all battery but at the same time telling it not to use the battery.

Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see any mention of speed while in "B" mode by the OP. My car's software works such that at highway speeds, the slowing down in one-pedal mode is very gradual, and then around 40-45 mph the regen braking becomes much more pronounced. In my car, this blend from gradual one-pedal braking at high speeds to more aggressive one-pedal braking below 40 mph is actually quite excellent. This happens regardless of whether in "Hybrid" mode (ICE on or not) or "Pure" mode (ICE off)... I rarely drive in Power or AWD mode, so don't know if things are mapped differently there...

The OP did say it was local driving and that lifting his foot off the pedal had no effect on speed.

That's not my experience—from full charge, B behaves just as I would expect it to...
I'll have to make some videos, pull out of my garage, go right downhill on the main street, in B and speed will keep increasing. When battery is below 75% or so, it will decrease down the same hill. Can't shove electrons into a full battery.

It doesn't work like this for me either. I've never had B not brake when I took my foot off the pedal - under any circumstances.
