I am new here and apologize now if this has been previously addressed - I have searched and found nothing. Can my 2020 V90 R non sequential LED taillights be swapped out for the updated sequential LEDs that are no offered on the V90 (plug and play)?

My local dealers parts department could not answer this
question. Volvo Cars of America referred me here.

Any help appreciated.

Short answer: no

Long answer: the new lights are LINbus controlled so they would require serious thinkering to get to work. I bought a light just to play with, it would require converting the 12V independent signals into LINbus signals going to each tail light. That is quite involved.

Thanks for clear and quick reply - not what I was hoping to hear but I knew something was up when Volvo couldn’t even tell me.

2020, would that be the new style facelift tail lights already? If no, then no per above.
Facelift, the US models would have non-sequential red turn signals, on both light units on the trunk and main body. EU spec have amber signals, sequential during turn operation, and non-sequential during lock/unlock/hazard. Swapping to the EU amber models should continue to work as the US coding, amber but non sequential in any mode.

I don't think it needs coding, I would think the same "code" sent to the light would simply do different animation US vs Euro as the control is in the taillight.

I don't think 2020 had facelift with the animation and Android interface though?
