Is there a secret to getting the car to see the update on the USB drive? 64gb drive formatted exFAT per the support article, downloaded the whole NA update, but nothing happens when it's plugged into either of the USB ports.
I had the same trouble when trying to load the update from my 64gb thumb drive, I went back to my computer and completely erased everything, then did a re-format of the thumb drive and downloaded the map update. Had no trouble installing the update in the car.

I always just tell my customers to ask our service team to update the maps when in for service. We do them by USB drive.
FWIW... thank you. In my mind, this is the way dealers who value their customers should be handling items like this. Frustratingly, my dealer is reluctant to do this and suggests I just do it on my own at home. It's not that I can't... but really? I spent all this $ for a V60 T8 PE and you won't update things like my Honda dealer does? That's not "white glove" customer service befitting a premier brand.

Put your sales person on the spot and have them help you out! A USB drive isn't expensive and if I worked somewhere that wasn't providing it for my customers then I'd be happy to. Heck, it would keep the relationship more with the sales department which benefits us in sales. No more "I bought this car 3 years ago and don't remember the sales persons name".

Hi All, I haven’t done my update yet but saw this thread and wanted to mention the instructions ask for the drive to be formatted in FAT32 so that may be the issue with the system not seeing it. Hope that helps👍🏼

I just did 3 regional map updates (NY, NJ/PA, MD/DE/DC/VA). I used 3 separate 64mb 3.0 USBs, formatted FAT32. The instructions state that nothing should be on the USB when downloading the map file. No issues. On my 2020 V90, it took approx 30 minutes to load. Each was updated while driving. If you stop midway, the update will recommence when the car is restarted.Once loaded, the screen states that final installation is done once the car is shut off.

My Lexus dealer wants $150 to update my wife's ES350. $0 charge from Volvo.

Interesting. Every time I bring my truck into the service department, my sales man knows and wants to know what it is in for. At the Volvo stores, sales does not seem to proactively interact with their customers who are in for service.

Is 64GB the largest size USB Sensus will recognize for the update?

I'm struggling to have it recognize the drive. I repartitioned a 128GB 3.0 USB drive to 60GB exFat.

I upgraded my local region (mid pacific) that went fine on a smaller drive. Now I want to do all of NA and can't seem to get it going.

Do only one map update at a time in your car.. As I recall, at most, a regional map file is (at best) only a GB or two, so there's absolutely no need for a 128GB USB. I used 64GB, but I'm sure a 32GB is more than adequate. Follow the formatting instructions. However, again from what I recall, the Volvo instructions state that the USB should not have any files on it prior to downloading a regional map update to the USB on your computer. I followed this instruction to mean that (also) only one regional map update should be on the USB that's inserted into the USB port in the car. I separately uploaded the regions of New England, NY, NJ/PA, DE/DC/VA/etc to my car just a few days ago with no problem.

I downloaded the NA map update to a 256GB USB thumb drive and installed it with no problem.

Can I load and update all of the regions? Not that I need it but might as well in case I have an emergency trip across the country ;-) Since the OTA updates have worked for me I have done that, but the limitation is I had to pick a region, NE for me. I was thinking if there is not space to download the update there isn't space to load all of the updates, but no idea how it's partitioned and managed inside the black box there. If I am going to do USB I might as well go all the way...
