Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems. I have a XC90 T8, MY2017 (early 2017), Polestar. I'm at 125k kilometres (77k miles), and am always asking a lot from the engine. After some wonderfull troublefree years (if I skip the whole ERAD-replacement 2 years ago), there are some problems coming up:

1) My check engine light came on recently, checked, turned out to be the code P0171 - System too lean on bank 1 (too little fuel or too much air).
It comes and goes, it might be triggered by the fuel I tank (normally I tank Shell Vpower, octane 98, 0% ethanol - I saw the CEL came on twice shortly after I tanked another octane 98 with 5% ethanol). Still, it should not trigger of course by just 5% ethanol - but it might be that for example the O2-sensor is just slightly off, and thus as a first sign the system triggers when the fuel is just a little less energetic (wishfull thinking)

2) I always loved the "Oomph"-sound the engine/turbo made at the end of each short acceleration the moment the transmission changes... Easily triggered by short acceleration from for example 30 tot 70km/h, and then releasing the gaspedal. Haven't heard the sound though for the last few weeks, normally I would hear it at least a few times day! I checked the boost-pressure while driving, if I press the pedal it will instantly rise to about 18.5PSI, and then slowly build up all the way to 22.5PSI (which is just about right for Polestar T8); However, 22.5PSI is only reached after like 8 seconds of acceleration, when I'm driving around 160km/h (100mph). Shouldn't it be reached way earlier? Is my turbo/supercharger failing or leaking, perhaps? Might explain the CEL as well.

3) The transmission is sometimes stuttering - if I coast at around 80km/h (50 mph), just at the turnover between 2 gears, it can jitter a bit; The same can happen when it downshifts when decellerating, it gets 'jerky'. Also, when going over a speedbump, the engine keeps engaged to the weels, meaning that due to the 'wobble' introduced by going (slowly) over the speedbump, the car is engine-braking the wheels... Thus leading to a bit of boat-feeling. I can't remember that I've felt that before (might be seeing ghosts, always happens when you are doubting your car for other reasons :D )

Anyone who has experienced the same with either a T5/T6 or T8?
Disclaimer - the car is at the dealer today. Love those guys, really helpfull, but as we all know there is a very big change that I first have to see if a software reset might fix my troubles... ;)

Went to the dealer, they did a smoketest. Turns out the turbo is leaking. The car is out of warranty, but I got coulance - they'll replace the whole turbo compressor for €1100 (60% of the usual tarive), pretty reasonable I guess for a 4 year old / 130k km car.

For future information: The turbo got replaced, the CEL came on again unfortunately... To be continued.

I did a readout, O2-sensor gave weird feedback, so I suggested the O2-sensor... first, they did a leaktest again, now showing a leaking supercharger. They fixed it - to no avail, CEL came on again. THEN they replaced the O2-sensor, and all my worries were gone. Concerning the CEL. Because the second I drove away from the dealer, my front suspension gave a nice "CLOINK"... AAAAAH. But I'll open another post for that one!

Me i have the same problems. I was to dealer service and i have a big list of parts to change: hole admission with all o-rings of supercharger, turbocharger and replace of katalisator with dpf. All charged at 4,2k euro.

You should have changed the O2 sensors before fixing the turbo leak. Always replace the cheapest possible part first.

Anyway you have the diy here...

Actually the seals alone will cost around $100.... There is a special kit from Volvo.

As for the labor, this is the most expensive part but you might be lucky to have a leak from the top supercharger seals. Smoke machine will help to fix only the damaged seals.

Anyway you already paid them that +4000 euros hhh

Me too I have în my mind to change all the o-rings and the valve of the top of the top of supercharger. I pay for the test, pressure test and i have see some air leaks in the plastics in front of admission. Thank you for parts code.
