My rear view mirror has black dots, mostly towards the bottom. I'm assuming the paint on the rear of the mirror is deteriorating. Anyone have a solution for this? A step-by-step repair guide would be awesome. TIA.

This looks like the one I bought. I have an 07 S60R but I imagine the mirror will fit an 04-07....

Well done! I bought another mirror to attempt the mod using paint remover so I don't scratch the glass. Will post the results here.

I wanna buy some compass glass I think if I can find it for cheap enough, nabbed another non-compass piece at the junkyard for @ZZZZZZZ yesterdayAlso I'm not 100% sure I didn't break something, need to test at night to see if it actually dims at all. Tried flashlight in the light sensor but didn't seem to change

Tabor got me one from our local pick n pull. What paint remover would you try? Would you tape it off first?use a q-tip?

I have a 15.5 S60, and realize this is a different forum, but my auto dim mirror required replaced. It solidified around the edges, so I'm guessing your only option is to replace the mirror when defects start appearing.

After the replacement with the non-compass glass, it doesn't seem like dimming is working. I'm holding a flashlight to the rear light sensor and covering the front, anti-dazzle doesn't seem to change. That being said, it seems like the default level of dimming is pretty decent and I can actually see out of it now.
May or may not have found a spare compass mirror for $40, might try swapping in the appropriate glass to see if it dims again. My old glass was gross but it dimmed
