Recently purchased a brandnew new DiCE clone from a local classified website.
Installed with VMware image using https://forums.swedespeed.com/showt...ad.php?481385-VIDA-Dice-2014D-VM-Image-Download-Link/page24&highlight=vida+dice

Software runs, DiCE is recognized by VIDA (see screenshot) USB3 post is set as the laptop uses usb3. but it says error "not possible to read out information from the vehicle".
Shows possible reasons ignition is not turned on (it is, in position 2 as required) or the vehicle is older than 1999 which is not the case it's a V50 2005.

After clicking the Read Vehicle button again it shows the process bar in VIDA acting like it is busy but in about 5 seconds the cars dashboard goes crazy with tons of errors saying brake system error stop immediately and flashing immobilizer errors.
I immediately removed the key from the car and removed the OBD2 plug from the DiCE, tried to start the car again.... NOTHING.
No crank, nothing.
Immobilizer errors all over.
Waited 10 minutes tied to start the car again and luckily it did.

Tried the whole process again and same result.... errors all over the dashboard and thought the DiCE blew up the ECU unit.

WTF is going on here???
Malware?
Voltage peak overflow from a malicious DiCE?

I have found more people having the same problem that it's "not possible to read out information from the vehicle".
But no one seems to have a solution.
Not heard anyone of having the same issues as me with the brake system and immobilizer errors though.

Most likely, you had a defective DICE. I have never heard of l malicious code just for DICE and Volvo cars but defective DICE you can buy all day long.

Thanks for your reply.
I've red there are lots (if not most) DiCe's from lately that has these issues.
The DiCE was purchased completely new.

Weird thing, everything was setup correctly and even the DiCE test showed a green OK status.

depending on which production line or factory, you may have one that was cheaper made than others. cheaper solder that isn't done well, bad chips that fry out within minutes of being powered... I used to sell DICE units all the time and never had a defective one but I also paid more than they were on ebay from a distributor in europe...

Take a look inside the DICE, tell us whether blue board or green board. Blue boards have high failure rate. If green, is the main processor chip Renesis or other brand? What do the two slighty smaller chips say?
