I searched and couldn't find where anyone had posted this, which surprised me.

I bought one of these for my 2006 S40 T5 - awful. Doesn't fit properly - the foam on the outside isn't formed correctly. Also, the depth of the filter material is probably about 1/2 an inch less.

Other people on the internet confirm a similar experience in other vehicles besides Volvos. I was able to "modify" mine to fit - though I'm not sure how comfortable I am with that.

Its Bosch, but made in China.

Thanks for the advise, I always try buy MANN filters for my car. even the STP SA10253 from autozone is good. I never bought Bosch filters and never thought they are that bad. Hector could be right about being counterfeit.

Could be counterfeit - but I got from Rockauto - which I've never had an issue with before.

I wrote Bosch to complain - I'll post if anything comes from it.

Bosch informed me that Rock Auto isn't an authorized Bosch retailer, so they are "unable to validate any product they sell." I've bought a bunch of Bosch products from Rock Auto - including alternators, starters, fuel pumps and all came in appropriate packaging and I've never had an issue . . . so I'm not sure what to make of that. Maybe I'll ask Rock Auto about it . . .

Try FCP Euro. They have lifetime warranty on EVERYTHING, including brakes and filters. They also cross reference part numbers for you to get you the best price on OEM manufacturer stuff, without the expensive Volvo stamp. Also, free shipping if it's over the price threshold!

I've started using FCP for bigger stuff (expensive brake booster most recently) - but I'm often buying parts for my other (non-euro) cars too. And if you can find it on rockauto it is hard to beat the price.

This is the first issue I've had and I've probably ordered 500 parts from them. I have a refrigerator covered with their magnets.

Rock auto informed me that most places aren't authorized bosch dealers, as that generally applies only to bosch's distributors. When I contacted rock auto they refunded my money for the filter (and shipping), and also noted that they would honor bosch warranties (which, if memory serves, my brother has had to take advantage of and can confirm is true). In short, rock auto handled it very well, and while I try to support the more specialized european places as well, rock auto has done right by me.
