I have a Thule Flow (now called Thule Motion XT Alpine) and like it. We only use it for skiing, so we don't need very much height. I think taller roof boxes are noisy, but not everyone agrees.

Not my car, but here is an XC90 with a Thule Flow:

Here is some discussion about roof boxes:

Another option if you have a trailer hitch and don't need the box for skis is to get one that mounts behind the car, which shouldn't be noisy at all.

We are considering getting a cargo box for our 2018 xc90. Can anyone give recommendations on which to get or avoid?
We have had this Volvo designed box for a year and a half. We haven't used it as much as I thought we would, but it has held up well. I still like it.

It is the sleekest one I found at that time. If you don't need more capacity, it is a great box because it is really thin and aerodynamic. I haven't tested against other boxes in similar settings, but I'd think it makes less wind noise than taller and less aerodynamic boxes.

It is well made and looks great, in my opinion. You can see more discussion about the Volvo box in this thread.

I have the Yakima Skybox Lo Carbonite. I haven't mounted it to my XC90 yet because it's heavy, the XC90 is tall, and my girlfriend can't lift it up high enough. My garage roof is low due to a beam in the middle, so I cannot use a pulley system. It's a great box, though, and can be opened from either side.

I’ve got an Inno Shadow 15 which is pretty great - sleek and streamlined. Use it for hauling skis.
