How to disable the Start/Stop function?

The XC70 My 2016 and XC60 MY 2016-2017 have a Start/Stop function. A lot of people ask me on Youtube how this can be disabled.
Does anyone know? because the dealer can not help.

In the loaner S60 and S90 I've driven both had a button on the console to disable the auto off at stop lights. Is that what you're referring to?

Yeah, I don't think you can disable permanently. As I understand it's how Volvo says it meets the MPG (or L/100km) of the EPA (or whoever).

Maybe somebody could come up with a way to re-program some module on the CANBUS?...

Personally, it annoys the heck out of me when cars sit at an intersection idling, running their engine for no reason, other than perhaps to be obnoxious. Most apparently don’t have auto start/stop.

;)

I have new module
New Module v4.0 with two features for your Volvo
V70,XC70 MY2008-MY2017
XC60 MY2013-MY2017
V40CC all MY

1: This module will disable the Start/Stop function (If your Volvo equipped Start/Stop function)
2: Make it possible to close the tailgate from the remote key fob or interior button.
It will protect your starter and battery from premature wear.
Remote close tailgate function works only on cars equipped with power tailgate option.

Easy plug and play Installation: Just plug the module connector into OBD2 connector and hide the module behind carpet at footwell.

Device consumes 10-15mA during operation and no more than 3mA in sleep mode.
Sleep mode enters a few minutes after the termination of the exchange via the CAN bus, when car is sleeping.

Module operation:
*Long press on remote or inside car will open the tailgate.
*Short press on remote or inside car will close the tailgate.

If you want to purchase a device, email me (moduleorder@gmail.com) VIN of your VOLVO for checking compatibility.

This is GREAT news. Thank you! I have the old tailgate module on my 2009 and love it. It's how the car should have been from the factory.

I also have been avoiding even looking at newer XC70s because I so hate that stop/start mess. When I finally decide to trade the '09 for a newer one, this will be the first thing I do.

In what year did stop/start become standard in XC70s? When I bought mine, I was only looking at '11 and prior T6 and they don't have it.

In the US market, I believe that for the XC70 only the T5 Drive-E (turbo 4-cylinder) engine had the stop/start feature. Model years for the XC70 were 2015.5, and 2016(?). This engine was only offered in FWD for the XC70.

The T5 5-cylinder turbo engine that was available for MY2016 in AWD flavor only does not have the stop/start.

If I remember correctly, I think that the models with the stop/start feature had a second 12-volt battery to assist with either the accessory power needs and/or the engine restart (I don't remember exactly which one). If you were to disable the stop/start function, I suppose that at some point the second battery will still die of old age at some point. I wonder if this would still trigger a dashboard warning to replace it?

Oh, that's good to know. Thank you. I don't think I'd bother with an XC70 that wasn't AWD, and I like my T6 enough to look for another one when the time comes anyway.

You always have a way with words, CC. :D
I just enjoy all the people in this VOLVO community. I have learned so much from others here. It needs to be fun at the end. Respect for every single one. Wish we could meet one day all together. Imagine that. Goodnight from Europe, getting late.
