Looks like I have some trouble with my USB connection in the armrest. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Often it cant read my iPhone anymore. Getting worse. To replace is not a problem and not expensive (replacement includes the internal cable in my case). Just hate those cables running from the phone to the USB, I have seen tons of solutions and perhaps an old thread somewhere but do they work? What would be the best solution, the best plug n play. Thanks for any advise, realy miss my Spotify play list. Oh and a final thing, if it is streamed via Bluetooth, how is the sound quality? Loose any quality? Thanks for any advise and experiences concerning this issue.

Can't offer any specific options for this platform, but generally, Bluetooth streaming can be very good or very bad. Most modern solutions are good. Technically there is a bit of quality loss but it's unlikely you'll notice. I'm pretty picky about audio quality and it sounds great in my '13. I've added streaming to other vehicles over the years and when it was bad it was obvious.

If the USB port is bad then your only option is using the AUX port, which means you wont be able to use the stereo to control playback e.g pausing, changing songs, browsing your music library etc. Have you ruled out the cable between the phone and the car? Try another one just to make sure. If it still is acting up, I'd rather get the port replaced. I don't think it should be too expensive even if you have to replace the wiring from the USB port to the stereo. It's also not a difficult job to do yourself but it'll probably take 1-2 hours if it's the first time you're dismantling the center console.

I have a Tune2Air adapter. My car however is older so it has a 30 pin connector and a USB port on a cable, instead of built in to the center console. There are different tune2air models and I know another member with a 2011 V70 who couldn't get his tune2air to work, whereas mine that connects to the 30 pin adapter has been working pretty much seamlessly for the two years I've had it. But worth to do some research into nonetheless, maybe he had the wrong version.

What was your solution in your MY13?

Thanks for the info. Saw a plug n play aux "thingy" with a bluetooth head on it? No I only go for USB, i mean I have to be able to control the music from my steeringwheel.

Cars that have Sensus/"bubbly dash" as you called it earlier, have bluetooth music streaming built in.

If your USB port is broken then you don't really have a choice apart from using the AUX instead, which means you wont be able to control playback from the steering wheel. In that case I wouldn't bother with bluetooth but just use an AUX cord, more convenient than a bad bluetooth solution.

I like my Tune2Air. I would just replace the USB connector and/or cable to the stereo in your car, it might cost some money but it's not hard - I know, because I added USB/iPod to my S80 since it didn't have that from the factory. It requires dismantling the entire center console but again, not at all difficult but it'll probably take you 2-3 h if you've never done it before.

edit: I'm not sure I'm reading VIDA right but the cable seems replaceable but costs around $80-90 to buy new. The USB port is also replaceable separately but is only around $20. So figure $120 if you do the labor yourself which isn't hard but takes some time.

Thanks for feedback, much appreciated, you always have lotsa knowledge. At the end I just replaced the plastic part inside the armrest with the USB/AUX connections... 2 minutes work and €15 or so. VOLVO tried to convince me to replace the cable all the way etc etc etc. Steelers!!!
USB working like a champ, I can even skip back now in Spotify using the steering wheel controls. I do need one song in APPLE MUSIC-APP in order for the system to recognise the USB (iPhone5S)
device. Thats a minimum requirement I have noticed.

Yeah I recognize that, needing one song in your library for spotify to work. But it's ok I got you covered bru, here are some swedish songs for your swedish car.

Found this...plug n play

https://www.volvotech.eu/xc70/XC70-MY-2008-2011/aux2a2dp

Upgrade the existing Auxiliairy-in of your Volvo to a high-quality Bluetooth audio streaming connection.

Works with nearly every device (smartphone for example) that can stream Audio trough Bluetooth.

Set is plug and play and based (in regards to connections) on the type of Volvo and type of audio installed.

- No more annoying cables from smartphone to aux port inside the mid arm-rest.
- Higher audio quality than playback trough Aux port, eliminating the minijack ports on both smartphone and in your Volvo.
- Playback directly when car is started, no need to connect cables first.

-Volume, bass/treble/balance/fader, as with the auxiliairy, adjustable trough the radio's settings.
Navigation instructions, parking sensors etc. keep working as the should of course.

We advise to use a good (charging) cradle in combination with the Aux2A2DP unit, your smartphone will then automatically get to be the "central" device, controlling audio, maybe navigation and more!

A one time installation is done below the mid-arm-rest. Mostly installation can be performed from the rear-seat location by removing a small panel. Connection is made to the original Volvo Auxiliairy harness (connector based) and disconnects the Aux port as long as the Aux2A2DP unit is connected.

Requirements:
- Audio system with original Volvo Auxiliairy

In the set:
- Aux2A2DP unit (Electronics unit)
