Hey all! My name is Daniel from Colorado, I recently purchased a 2005 Volvo S60R!!
I am currently sponsored by KT4 Performance and we plan on building the car to become a nice daily driver. I would love to get everyone on these forums involved, whether it's pictures or youtube videos. Also, I'm sure many of you know a lot more about building cars and volvos as a whole so I would love to get some help from you guys as well.

Thanks!
Daniel

Yeah! it's bone stock. 162,000k miles on it. (manual). It's black, has some minor paint chips along the trim. Other than that the car is pretty good.

The way the build is hopefully going is we're doing performance before visual mods. However the stock wheels are very curbed so I may be getting some wheels and tires before we go to performance.

As for as performance, i'm hoping to start with an exhaust system, cooling, pulley upgrade, coilovers, a lot more for the steering and suspension because as we all know, steering for the R's are TERRIBLE. Then we can get into the good stuff like some nice turbo upgrades and BOV. once all said in done, we may get some different bumpers but im not too set on that just yet.

If you guys have any other ideas for the car feel free to leave it in this thread, I want this daily to be awesome I building a brain trust between us all would make this build damn near perfect.

1) Steering for the Rs is not terrible, don't know where you got that info from, but you're new so i'll spare you.
2) Pulley upgrade on the R won't make that much of a difference.
3) Dont expect crazy power unless you plan on dumping over $15k into the project.
4) Do a compression and leak down test on the motor, if its good, shim it. 162k is a high number.

Either way, welcome to the club!

1) There are plenty of forums on how volvos as a whole just have bad steering and also bad turning radius. That's where I got my info from.
2) On a 162k car, a pulley could make a huge difference.
3) This is a daily driver, why would I want crazy power? Also my sponsorship won't make me "dump" money into the car.

Either way, thanks!

steering sucks, get used to it.. lightweight pulleys are junk dont bother.

as far as BOVs.. this isnt a honda..

youre in for a hell of a ride. hope that wallet is deep :D

recipe for a good daily driver.

Stage 0 -> brake refresh -> suspension refresh (lowering springs, IPD sways, strut braces, derlin subframe bushings) -> grippy tires -> mods like a upgraded fmic, 3in downpipe, 3in exhaust -> stage 2 - 2.5 tune and you're good. this has worked for me.

maybe shim the block too.

then it should last a very long time if you take care of it.

I think this sounds awesome and easy enough! Might still add a bigger turbo in it, then probably call it good.

Thanks for you help!

And then the list continues: bigger injectors, bigger MAF sensor, clutch if stock one is worn and slips under higher torque etc.
