Re: New Software update for those with auto gearbox problems (Mistral)

AH HA, vindicated. Kept feeling this shudder and believe mulman mentioned the torque converter lockup. Shop scratched their heads (twice) when I brought it in for serivce. Kind of ignored me on the issue. Finally got them to install (believe this one) the update about a month ago. Not nearly as prevalent but it still feels like it's there.

Now if we could just figure out why some days we have solid power and others feel like no turbo boost...'cause I love my passing gear when it's having a good day.

Re: New Software update for those with auto gearbox problems (Mistral)

I've noticed my transmission upshifts roughly sometimes, otherwise I don't have any complaints. I'll still have this update done the next time I take my car in though....

Re: New Software update for those with auto gearbox problems (Mistral)

I'm having the 3-2 downshift problem. Had it in 4 months ago and they flashed it then and it helped a little, so I'm curious to see if this fixes it entirely. I'll get it done in 3 weeks or so when I'm in for my next visit. Will let you guys know!

Re: (CH)

Had the flash for the ECU (for SSS) and had the update to the tranny at the same time about a month ago, only had it in the city but seems to have dropped 1-2 mpg. Ave according to car's computer.

The update will fix the 3-2 downshift jerk.

Re: New Software update for those with auto gearbox problems (Mistral)

Hi,
I have heard a lot about the aquamist system, but have no idea what it is? Could possibly explain it to me? Also, with my mods, would it produce more power? If so, about how much? Thanks a lot for your response. Take care.

Yes I believe this is an update for the ECU
This is not an ECU update. There are two updates above, one for the automatic transmission control unit, and one for the AWD coupling.

Tom.

THANKS!

I stopped by my dealer today and had a talk with the shop foreman. I now have an appointment to have the software upgrade in my 2000 V70. It is exhibiting the downshift problems mentioned in the bulletin on this thread.

The shop foreman is very certain that the upgrade will fix my problem (at least as sure as he CAN be without hooking my car up to the shop's diagnostic equipment)

BTW, he told me to BE SURE TO BRING OUT A COPY OF THE PRINTOUT AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS THREAD FOR THE TECH TO USE.

sorry to bring back this thread, but when does the "torque converter shudder" occur, and how long does it last?

not sure.... but im wondering if people are confusing shudder with a hard lockup or unlock
