So i'm entering the FWY after hanging with Steve and Bryan at the Brembo event which included go-karting "good times". I hit the throttle and felt wheel spin I also saw the traction control tri-angle symbol on the dash. I tried accelerating from a stop a few more times and the results were the same, could it be that the all wheel drive system is no longer working what gives

Re: Angle gear failure ? (cloaked)

Probably

Re: (cloaked)

It could be the Haldex unit not the angle gear.
Mine failed early on at 5K miles for no real reason,

I don't beat on the R

Dam I just had a new one installed a few weeks ago was there a factory flaw or defect

IF that is the case, then they probably did not hook something up correctly...perhaps the haldex control module?

Good question.
When mine "failed" it was in the shop for something else so who knows how "fragile" these really are
...and it had failed as I was in FWD mode 100% of the time

I get a fair amount of wheel spin if I go WOT in 1st. Is this not normal? I've only had my R for about 3k miles, but it has 32k on it.
No
If everything's working properly it's pretty hard to spin the wheels

you might want to get that checked out.
i have launched hard in downpours to test out the AWD and no spin whatsoever.

well when the angle gear was installed the AWD was fine the angle was leaking only. The I hope it's only the module I'm going to find out tomorrow, warranty item im sure. i'll post the findings

Re: (minorthr)

I believe that there a probably a lot of pressure sensor failures in the Active On Coupling (AOC/Haldex) out there that are being mis-diagnosed (and mis-repaired) as Angle Gear failure.

see also this dscussion thread:

http://www.v70r.com/forums/ind...74&hl=

My dealer said I needed to replace angle gear and dirveshaft. Wa actually a bent rim causing the vibration (thought to be caused by an eccentric driveshaft). Would have cost me $3500, and I would still have had the loss of AWD and the vibration.

Re: (SleepR)

Could be... but then again the AOC will throw a code when the pressure fails. The angle gear is just a hunk of metal. Very different diagnosis, IOW. To get an RMA approval, they'd need a code, or a solid explanation why. I doubt such an error would be tolerated for long. These things go back to Sweden, by my understanding.

Problem solved "Differental electronic module" and "softrware control module downloading" also had spacer sleeves installed for the dreaded axle ping http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Angle gear failure ? (Helmut Ranff)

But Helmut, the DEM is nowhere near the Angle Gear. Your Rhino dung is coming out the wrong end.

This is a picture of rhino dung. Enjoy it as you think about angle gear failure

that's exactly what I was thinking, but there's really no correlation
