The exclusion list states :"... MacPherson strut cartridge insert or shock absorbers, batteries,... " I'm wondering (belatedly, I admit) if the words "shock absorber" means the Air Suspension components are excluded from
Coverage. Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Here's how Volvo describes it:

Four-corner Air Suspension offers superior levels of ride comfort, handling and road holding. An electronically controlled damping system called Four-C replaces traditional dampers or shock absorbers. This system uses a computer-controlled air chamber at each wheel that constantly adapts to changing road conditions. The hydraulic characteristics of the dampers are measured and controlled with calculations up to 500 times per second for the best possible ride.
So unless they specifically call out the springs, then I don't think they could exclude the air spring that replaces the normal coil and leaf springs. Four-C replaces the shock absorbers, so they may be able to exclude them depending on what they consider "shock absorbers" and if they're the same thing.

When I purchased the Volvo VIP extended warranty I asked my dealer about the air shocks and was told they were covered. But covered meant the electronics behind the system not sure if the actual inflatable bags are covered or not. I will check next time I go out to the dealer as they have a booklet from Volvo that shows the coverage.

Anyone has experience using the extended warranty for the air suspension?

I have the platinum plan extended warranty, and recently got the knocking/clunking noise issue described in this TJ: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10167839-9999.pdf.
After the dealer filed a claim, the warranty provider (Fidelity) reject it as they
noted that they don't just replace parts that make noise. They found the tech journal but still stated that if its just making noise with no actual failure then they won't cover component.

But clearly the issue is certainly not some noise due to wear and tear, but some defect parts that volvo has replaced in later model year.

Very frustrated about the warranty on this issue.
