Re: (StaggRLee)

So some answers in English please.. (Jim)
Does this airbox HELP (HP) by just dropping it in or not?
There is at least one person here that the box threw a CEL.
When original filter was put back in, it went away

Re: (JRL)

The CDA airbox would be of no help IMHO as the R already has a big filter. It's a lot of $ and a simple added inlet would be as good

The CEL issue seems related to people with DP and some types of ECM mods not just the BMC 358/16 element by itself.

(My BSR PPC + BMC has had no issue).

Re: (JimLill)

I will rephrase, I have a stage 2 IPD set up, will this help me of hurt me
(Stage 2 chip, exhaust and downpipe) and DOES IT FEEL THAT IT AIDS TO THE SETUP or do nothing

Re: (JRL)

As any ECM upgrade we know of increases boost, the results is 10-15% more CFM through the filter and airbox. So changes like this will help. The issue of the CEL is a case by case basis, you just have to try it. Thankfully, if you put the BMC in and it throws a CEL, it's easy to change back.

Re: (JimLill)

Jim,

I've noticed that my car feels quite a bit stronger with this air filter. I didn't expect to notice much of a difference. I am pleasantly surprised but am concerned that I installed it wrong. Did your car replicate these effects?

Thanks.

Re: (JimLill)

Mine should be here in a day or so.
Has anyone with a chip, downpipe and exhaust installed one and have NOT thrown a CEL?
If so, did you notice ANY difference besides the noise?

was anyone else's BMC filter seem a bit long to you and didn't fit right without some minor modding?

Got mine today and had the same problem, gonna have to trim the collar back about 1/4" to get it to fit without distorting the box.

Yes please, may I have another.

Re: (Our R)

Those of you that have OBD2 tools that you can drive with might want to look at peak MAF flow as you change various inlet parts, filter, ducts etc. If you have a device that allows graphs of flow vs. time, that would be relevant too.

Re: (JimLill)

Quick and dirty one.

The bunch of curves that are roughly grouped together are from runs using the stock filter with the sponge in place. Runs include total stock to runs with DP and Exhaust.

The two curves that are higher are runs with MTE tuned ECU with DP and exhaust using stock filter (a little dirty by now) without the sponge.

All runs were recorded on a 4 wheel dyno, and not real road tests.
