Hi,
Just got back from Volvo of "OC" . They had a body shop guy there, and i asked him how much to remove the front OEM Body kit spoiler/fender, since its hitting everything in its path since it obtrudes out so much. Quote was $170.

Question is, would it be cheaper to get the evolve front, than to remove the current one? It looks like the evolve one is made better and doesnt protrude out, but just lowers the chin a little.

Anyone with the evolve kit, can you concur that its better/worse than the volvo oem one to DRIVE with, not the way it looks.

Thanks

Personally, I would give it a shot.
Your sides are not hitting and neither is your rear.
I would also take a bit more care when pulling out of driveways, etc.

give it a shot to remove, or replace ?

a bit more care?

heh.. here in socal, most of the roads are fine, cept the entrances to a lot of parking lots.

Maybe i should pull a handbrake turn and reverse into each lot.... think i'd get busted for that ?

Replace it with the Evolve.
You really have to watch out for CA driveways.
As for your third remark...........

i don't know if the EVOLVE front is lowe than the stock sport kit or not..

if you drive carefully, a car with either front bumer should not scrape on most driveways.

I have the EVOLVE bumper AND the EVOLVE springs and I have not scraped on anything.

Well Sean, whatever else you do I would guess that you are very carefull.
I had the sport kit front splitters on my wagon for a year and "whacked" them about 3 times, 2 of them going out the dealers driveway (very steep angle) and my car is not lowered
I think Evolves bumper is just a bit higher. and (the important thing) doesn't stick out forward as much
All he needs is about 1/2" more front clearence

I don't know who asked me for the replacement part numbers for the sport kit nose pieces as I seem to have lost his email, but, HERE THEY ARE and...
they are significantly cheaper http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/emthup.gif than they were a year ago
PN39992448
PN39992449
They used to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $240 apiece, now they are $129.50 each
Good luck, whoever you were

Impossible with the factory sport trim. They're mounted too low and too far forward. Unless you live on a perfectly flat world, you cannot avoid eventually scuffing them, regardless of the care exercised.

Considering where JRL lives, that he's hit them that infrequently is remarkable.

Unfortunately ONE time is one too many.

I guess I hit them about 5 times in 9 months
