I did the EGR blanking mod on my 2.0D :)

I recommend this mod to everyone :) better throttle-response, keeps pulling without hesitation. only downside is that it takes a bit longer for the engine to get warm. and the smell that comes out of your exhaust is disgusting :D

Did the mod at around 170.000km (105.000miles) and I now have 270.000km (167.000miles)
Exactly how did you do this?
Any software change needed?

06 Volvo V50 2.0d sport.

Made an aluminium plate to put between the EGR and the aluminium pipe that goes across the engine.

unbolt the 8mm socket bolts, put the plate between them en tighten the bolts again.
then disconnect the sensor for the EGR.

ATTENTION: this only works with PRE-FACELIFT cars. you need to delete the EGR via software for the facelift cars.

I'm in Northern Ireland and have an S40 2.0D R Design Sport (136bhp). Haven't done any performance upgrades yet. Thinking about remapping it to 180ish bhp and putting a cat-back twin pipe exhaust on. I want to take my dpf out while I'm at it but I've heard rumours that they're going to start testing diesel emissions during MOT :( Did you gain much bhp from the exhaust and induction kit RwB?

am i the only one around here with the D1 ? 109 Hp from factory and my mods are : kevlar clutch, stock pressure plate and flywheel. brakes from a 2.5t modded gt1544v, shortened vacuum lines, stock intercooler and a tune at ~ 140 HP with fuel consumption at around 4.2\100 if you drive constantly with 150 km\h. dunno in mpg.

still looking to get another volvo with d3 or d4, till then i have to sell mine

2.0D V50 from 2005 here. I've blocked off the EGR (with a physical plate + disconnected, no errors on early model), but that's about it. Thinking about a retune now, but I'm not sure it's worth the money... I would like 170bhp/400nm which my tuner tells me is no problem, but at 245.000km I'm not sure I should...

At onezero: A D1? Didn't even know that existed... it sure as heck isn't available here/wasn't ever as far as I know. Starts at D2... There's two reasons to get a diesel, fuel consumption or torque. My reason is defenitely torque, but I'm not so sure why you got a D1 as you appear to be gunning it slightly :p

Hey first Volvo to own from Ireland. 2007 S40 2.0D, stock 136bhp averaging 57mpg at the moment. I've started on cosmetic upgrades, two front fog light surrounds & intercooler grille painted straight black. I've ordered from Volvo the boot spoiler, aluminium pedal covers, bonnet & boot gas struts (car spent 6 years beside the sea so want to get rid of that rusty look), isofix brackets for my two kids, newest "Volvo" boot badge with large spacing.

Ordered LED interior lights off of LighTec24, glossy surround sports mesh grille off of Dubstop Imports on eBay (hoping it comes with the small Swedish flag for it) which should be here this week. Tuesday week it's getting rear 5% tints can't do front then no NCT for me.

Plans are to colour code the textured plastic front & rear lower spoilers, two sill covers & the 4 lower door mouldings. Big upgrade will be stainless custom exhaust by Powerflow Exhausts + remap will bring BHP to 165. Much boost with intercooler upgrade & much modifying for ST intercooler to fit?

This was really interesting ;)!
Was the d5 exhaust bolt on?
Have you removed the dpf?
I also got a 2.0d, but haven't done anything with it yet

I have a 2006 D5. I put in a K&N panel filter in. Then I had the ecu done and its now gone from 180hp to 220,hp with 450ft torque. Got to say it pulls like a train and has woke the car up. It now pulls in every gear and holds the revs longer, but doesn't drop off like before. Overtaking is effortless. I also put on some lowering sport springs, and it's transformed the handling, cornering and breaking. No diving. Corners flatter, and not crash. The stance looks so much better too. What I was told is that the early cars aren't as easy to tune as the newer ones. Guy said he had to take out certain wires and re do it to get things done. Instead of just using software. Anyone with any views? Are those mods going to make much difference? Thanks guys.

Forgot to put in, will a full sports exhaust and intake gain me much more power, and can more be done to ecu?
