Congratulations on your new V60CC. I love the Beechwood interior, just wish you could order a red exterior with that interior. I agree with your assessment of Volvo being a lux brand.
Enjoy the new ride.

i went to the volvo dealership last week to check out the xc60 - did not like the floaty suv ride or the cabin noise
...
Congrats on your new CC, looks beautiful! Surprising that you found XC60 noisy though - maybe it's the Drive-E engine?.. My wife's T6 XC60 is super-quiet inside, even when driven hard. The ride is more floaty than a sedan (or CC), that's true, but not too bad for an SUV. Good compromise between sportiness and comfort.

i am sure it was a t6 because i asked the sales guy why the cc felt quicker and quieter compared to a v6 - what i am not sure is if it was a new xc60

update - 3/1

after enduring multiple days of stop and go traffic in bad weather, when at a complete stop, significant engine vibration and related noise can be felt in the cabin and at the brake pedal (vibration), shifting to neutral does not help, this does not go away even after the CC has been driven for a long time. the noise and vibration go away the moment i step on the gas, did not notice this during the test drive as there was no traffic

Sounds like the idle is too low.... I believe it should idle at 800 rpms, is it lower? Else it would calm down in neutral if it were a tranny related issue. How does it feel while idling in Park? I didn't notice this in a V60 T5 (2.5 5 cyl) AWD that I had as a loaner a few weeks ago. I

How much smoother and softer is the ride compared to the normal V60? The ride even on 17" wheels was not perfect on the V60 but it sounds like the CC is a bit softer which about has me sold.

My 9-3X has a very brittle ride for this type of car and I'm looking to get out of that.

it idles around 700 rpm, vibration stops when i give it a little gas, even when stopped. will take it in to the dealer to see if they can increase the idle speed ... thx

I had the opportunity to drive a V60 CC yesterday and for a lifted vehicle it handled very well. The suspension provided a good firm feel, the engine power was sufficient for the car and felt quite peppy in sport mode, car was traveling faster than I thought I was actually going but never felt floaty. I like how the car shifted normally and then when in sport mode, it responded to shifts as I made them with no delay. The rear area was only adequate, could really use some extra leg room, I'm curious to see what the S60L brings. Nice car and ride overall but now that I have had some folks in the back, it certainly shows how much smaller the rear space is. I'm a bit spoiled from the extra leg room in my KIA Optima Hybrid but the trunk is small due to the battery and am looking for a wagon/SUV to provide the extra room in a second car. The XC60 looks nice for trunk space and while I was hoping for an AWD version to provide decent economy, only the Drive-E engine seems to do that on that car, I'll have to take one of those out and spend some time with it.

Speaking of which, I wonder if there will be a V60L?
Nah.. That would be the V70 which is still sold elsewhere around the globe. The S60L was already available being produced in China as a limo, so worth a shot until the SPA S60 arrives, and also to cover the current S80's poor showing. Don't believe there was a demand for limo wagons there so no V60 stretch (plus the Chinese love their XC60 for family hauling). I doubt it would have much demand here either considering the (abandoned) V70 sales and recent V60 sales, or any wagon in the US not named Outback for that matter. Personally can't wait for the next V60 and V90, and hoping America will be a bit more wagon friendly by then.

They just need to make the S/V60 more along the lines of a 5 series/A6 in size, the S/V40 should be 3 series size/A4 competitor and the S/V80 (or 90 if that's what they are going to call it) a 7 series/A8 sized car. I know the price points of the current cars seem more in line with the 3 series/A4 and it's a bit weird to have all the cars seemingly around the same price. I know it'a going to take a couple of years for the new platform to produce the larger sized interior however, knowing they do a S60L in China means they can bring that here and just call it S60 and get rid of the current S80 and get the new one out on the SPA platform. I feel based on the pricing now, more people wold feel better having a bit more room for the current price.
