Hi everyone,

I've started to think about next upgrade of rotors and pads (305 mm front and 286 mm real) for competition season 2015 (autocross and track-days). Right now I run my car on Brembo OEM rotoros + Akebono Euro Ceramic Pads which is very good include that I did 3-4 track days - no problem , but I feel that I was very close in heat limit.

I've already found two major competitors : EBC and StopTech

EBC® - USR Series Sport Slotted Rotors http://www.carid.com/2007-volvo-s60-brakes/ebc-usr-series-slotted-brake-rotors-4258600.html + EBC® - Yellowstuff 4000 "R" Series Full Race Brake Pads http://www.carid.com/2007-volvo-s60-brakes/ebc-yellowstuff-full-race-brake-pads-4234406.html

vs StopTech Sport Slotted Brake Rotor http://www.vivaperformance.com/stoptech-sport-slotted-front-brake-rotor-305mm-s60-v70-s80/ + StopTech Street Performance Brake Pad http://www.vivaperformance.com/stoptech-street-performance-front-brake-pads-s60-v70-s80/

so...what do you think guys ?! your ideas/advices ?

I LOVED my EBC's on my G35. But I dont have S60R experience with either. Thats all I can add. I did SS lines and Hawk HP+ pads and I would recommend that setup to anyone. MUCH firmer than stock.

Note this is all from the G35...

Those EBC looks interesting I like !!! I use StopTech and i love them!!
I loved your answer :))) LOL

Dead line : looks like EBC has more performance

I had the UPR's. I was mistaken. I am not a drilled/slotted believer. Blanks are where it's at for street driven cars.

Let the flames ensue.

more ideas/recommendations ?!

I wouldn't go with the full race pad for street use. They are designed to work at higher operating temperature. A true race pads will work like s**t for the street use. With that said, I do not know anything about the Yellow Stuff. It may not be full race pads, but you do the research.

I currently run the Stoptech pads with blank rotors. I like them okay. I do NOT track my car. My next set will be going BACK to Hawk HPS.

Ceramic pads are meant for "low dust". They don't handle abuse well at all, far worse than OEM pads, and farther worse still from a proper track pad like Porterfield R4S or Ferodo DS2500. EBC makes some good proper track pads as well. StopTech "street performance" is NOT a track pad, and is probably worse than OEM pads. Hawk HPS and HP+ are also worse than Volvo pads for taking track day abuse.

Proper race pads may not work well on the street, really depends on the aggressiveness and whether or not they still bite well cold. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ferodo DS2500 pads do just fine at 0F temperatures in MN. That's probably the exception not the rule.

Which EBC pads? Yellowstuff? I'm leaning between Porterfield and them Yellowstuff's simply because EBC is cheaper.

Stay away from Stoptech

Stoptech pads are not that great - they have a tendency to deposit unevenly and then it's really hard to remove, leading to vibration. The Stoptech rotors are just fine on the other hand.

As others have stated - don't use track pads for the street. I recommend Centric semi or full metallic - no dust, good grip. But no abuse or they will misbehave.

Yes , but I've already started to think about Carbotech pads instead of EBC with EBC USR Series Sport Slotted Rotors

Ive contacted them and they say they shouldnt be used on the street because they will wear the rotor too much and squeek crazily. Idk if true, or if anyone has them.

Edit: I think you can run XP8 on the street comfortably. Xp10 seems as though they are too noisy to run on the street. Though you can buy a perfect pad like Porterfields that everyone likes for the same price

I have slotted EBC rotors with RED pads and they do alright but I had brake squeal the first few thousand miles that wouldnt go away, I also did two bed in's and it didnt fix it. EBC was responding to my emails then just stopped out of no where and left me high and dry. But I like the rotors. They arent much different from stock.

I would say get the rotors and buy better pads.
