yes , in this case you're right, I'm planing in the next few months change intake pipe from original to snabb and together with it I'll change the tank hoses to 5/8. BTW ...when I disconnected the original hose from intake pipe to connect catch tank the original hose looks also 1/2 inch. Did you change it to 5/8 or left it in 1/2 ?
i got rid of all that, now i run it straight from the breather box ...but yes back then i used waterpex 90degree fitting , go to a pluming or hardware store and find something from brass.

back then .... what you would do.

now ...if you look under the intake mani runners , I'm running 5/8 id hose straight to oil catch can.

I've already used 90 degree elbow for connection to original hose

the 90 degree elbow in your picture has in one side 1/2 inch and another side 5/8 inch. Am I correct ?

So you are bypassing all the part where it goes next to coolant line inside the insulation.

The one I am pointing with the screwdriver. Isn't the purpose of this part to cool down the air going trough it?
Is there any adverse effect of not cooling it?
On the other end your 16mm hose seems much larger than the original pipe

External diameter seems to be 13mm

:)))) what are the correct dimensions?
I want to say 3/4 90 degree 3/4...i went to pluming store with my hose and he gave different ones to try, hose fit over them really tight , i like them like that and i bought them.

good, thats the old style 2004 and below...even worse... when im modding something I go larger especially when it comes to breathing...some do 1 inch straight out.

here is some pics post 31

it sounds much better , because if we do small math the difference between 1/2 and 5/8 inchs is only 3 mm - it doesn't look such a big change

I understand this is the newer design for 2005+. Is the coolant line inside the air pipe or behind it in this picture?
I am thinking of modifying my 2004 design by opening the insulation, replacing the air pipe with a larger air pipe for the straight part and then exiting before the turn to a flexible 3/4 line to the catch can. And then possibly adding back some insulation around the bigger air pipe and coolant line.

yes, inside.

Dougy, I guess the banjo bolt in the middle of your picture
connects to your custom intake manifold, which is why it s not close to the thermostat like in the original design
yes, exactly.

What material would you use for the pipe.
aluminum? Any special kind?
And for the hose, rubber or silicone?
rubber, i had silicone I got tired of it sweating. what pipe?

the pipe to bypass the smaller pipe in the original pcv, inside the insulation for the 2004 model.
coolant pipe...i bought a three ply reinforced coolant hose...ebay...i think it was 8 or 9 mm ID.

You can see it in this pic ASH
