I have a conceptual model being fab'd. This is an alert to those who might be thinking about buying.

Duly noted!

Re: Strut Bar Project started (SleepR)

Update:

I didn't like the first proto, it had too much potential for hitting the upper engine mount. I have the CAD drawings sitting in front of me for P2, but haven't had the time to cut/bend the brackets. I am still targeting production before spring.

Jim...

We're sorta doin the same thing... but I have a question for ya. We completely removed the upper engine mount. That thing weighs a freaking TON!

I see the motor is connected at several other mounting points... is this mount completely necessary? What would you think about making a NEW mount that would just tie in to the stock location, yet run (think of a sway bar) a hollow core through the engine mount?

Make sense? That would free up SO much more room for a strut tower brace...

just our ramblings as we tore into the car more yesterday.

Re: (CyberDoberman)

The cheap approach would be to replace the bushings at the end of that bar with solid metal ones, some bracing... some shaking

If cost were no object, I'd replace that bar with another vibe reducing one and add a second brace scheme all integrated together,

But given most people will want to keep the engine bar, and add a strut brace at reasonable cost (@ $450 the VST is NOT), I am taking the approach I am.
