My car just recently started doing the exact same thing. Does the sound go away after the engine warms up for you?
Yep. But when driving with the engine already warm, you hear an ever-so-slight high-pitched chirp under hard throttle. It's nowhere as loud as the video clip, though. That initial screech is freakin' loud. What bothers me is that it sorta sounds like belts, but at the same time not really, at least for me...

An easy way to check if it's a belt, is to rub a bar of soap on the edges of the belt and see if the squeak goes away (temporarily).

Regardless of what it actually is I would definitely checked the timing belt right away just to cross that out or you could be very sorry!

So haven't you open the engine bay and see if you could isolate the area the sound comes from a little? Ask someone to start the car and press carefully on the accelerator to get a first hand look at the issue.

Remove the cover and have a look. Be careful not to touch the belt with anything if you have removed the cover and start the car.

Don't take any chance with the timing belt. Better safe than sorry on that one!
If you remove the cover, which is easy, you should be able to inspect it, see if it is outside of the pulley, or if the material is shredding on the side.
If it's not that, move on to the rest with peace in mind :D

I know this sounds odd but several people have found loose exhaust manifold nuts to be the cause of this belt-like noise when cold. Turbo cars only. As soon as the manifold heats & expands it seals the leak. Just another thing to check & cross off your list.

The way it loudly shoots out air on start could indeed be the turbo flange leaking... Interesting

I've had the exact same problem with my S40. For me, the gasket between the exhaust manifold and engine was cracked. Also, one of the bolts that keeps the manifold in place had been sheered off.

The gasket and bolt were replaced, and the noise is now gone!

Hope everything went ok with your car!

Absolutely worth checking the exchaust manifold bolts are snug, also check the DP bolts, mine made a racket like no tomorrow and I found the DP only held in place with one of three bolts, the 2 other ones where gone!!

I also found all 8 nuts on the exchaust manifold so loose I could turn them by hand..
