whats up people, im new to the forum and Volvo which i'll be lookin to purchase a C70 in the new week or so. I usually an Acura kind of guy after just losing my 06 Acura RL that was just totaled (not by me) and ive owned Acuras before that. Ive decided to give Volvo a try after a good friend of mine is a mechanic at Volvo and told me they are good cars which im sure he's a little bias. I found a 2000 Blue C70 convertible wit 72k on it and someones selling it for $5000 but said he would take $4000 for it. So i guess i'll be lookin to see what i kind of mods i can do to it probably not to many and just gathering any kind of input i can from the forum.

You'll need to do a "Stage Zero" on this car first thing. Even though the mileage is low, there will be things you NEED to do or this car will take a dump on you. Volvo's aren't like Honda/Acura - they need regular maintenance or it will cost you big time. ETM, Timing Belt, Engine mounts, etc, are the first thing that come to mind.

There are some "mods" to cut down on the cowl shake. Stick or Automatic? Low Pressure Turbo or High?

I see higher mileage 2003-2004 model year C70 where I live for that price range. I personally I would get a newer C70 for the money despite higher mileage (even double 140-150K +). Volvo engines are tough and the transmissions seem to hold up better on the later model years past 2001. I think the 2000 model year is affected by ETM issues. I like newer even with higher mileage due to concerns over wear to the top mechanism components and also the 2003-2004 model year have the better looking glass headlights. Probably the easiest mod is an ECU tune to increase horsepower.

it looks like a clean car and its a older older gentleman who owns the car so i dont think he would beat on it but who knows. i rather the lower miles then something in the 100,000 range. i change cars like i change my underwear (this is probably my 5th in 6 years) so will see. hopefully while the time i have it i wont encounter any problems.

Well I actually the damn guy sold that car on me after I told him I was comin today. So I found another one but a 2004 wit 86k on it black wit tan top and tan interior. Car fax checked out so hopin I will pick it up today. His ad was askin for $5500 but said he will take 4k for it. Also it's a high pressure turbo.

I finally had my rear under body brace installed, it helps but does transmit a slight bit more vibration (from the exhaust, low frequency?) into the car - I am fine with the vibration though. The car still has noticeable cowl shake compared to a C70 coupe but overall feels more stout.
