I just read that the T5 Drive-E has an overboost function that boosts torque from 258 to 280 for 10 seconds if the driver floors the pedal and holds it there. Does anyone know if the T6 Drive-E will have the same function boosting the torque above 295?

I don't think so. But the T6 torque curve is much flatter and higher than the T5 with overboost, especially from 4000-6000 RPM where the T5 tails off. See the curves on page 44 of the VEA document:

Because the T6 has a supercharger to eliminate turbo lag, it can have a bigger turbo than the T5. The 10 second overboost of the T5 would help it's 0-60 MPH time, but would peter out in the quarter mile. There is probably another time limit before you can get overboost again, so it wouldn't help much on a road or autocross course either.

I also determined that the supercharger may disengage at lower RPM:

Where did you read that?
I thought this overboost was only on the 2.5L 5cyl turbo on the S60 T5.

The new 4-cyl. T5 has the same over boost feature as the 5-cyl. T5.

The T6 does not have the over boost feature; only the T5.

I guess like TonyJag says, we will have to wait and see what's written on the fuel cap, either "premium recommended" or "premium required".
We went to visit our new Volvo today and get the intro briefing. We can't drive it home until the Saab is back from the shop early next week because we need it's plates. The fuel label says minimum 91 octane.

I'm quite envious TonyJag. I saw pics of your new ride on your other post. Ours won't be delivered most likely until September due to the factory closure in August. We went ahead with a 2015.5 Platinum T-5 Drive-E with BLIS, Tech, Xenons, Climate and hazel brown/black sport seats. For the exterior, our OSD friendly dealer will try to get Power Blue, but most likely it will be Twilight Bronze. Blue would be awesome, but it's a long shot. Who knows, if the previous one on the assembly line is Power Blue, we stand a chance for them to not have to switch the nozzles!
But the delay is killing me and it's only been 2 weeks... We've been having great driving weather lately in southern Ontario!

It's a shame you can't get the exact color you want, waiting all that time. What is a 2015.5 MY.. how is it different from 2015?
We waited just under 3 months. Some things you can do while waiting:
1) Once they tell you the VIN, you can track the shipment from port-to-port. Very interesting. There is a post up front in another forum on how to do it.
2) Download copies of the owner's manual and other documents from the Volvo web site; there is a lot to learn!
3) Keep participating in SwedeSpeed!

We are very happy with ours so far. Good luck!

Interesting... I thought hazel brown/black interior was no longer available for 2015.5, and was replaced with blond/black ? Also, wasn't Tech package integrated into Platinum for MY15.5 ? Please let us know if you do manage to get Power Blue, without doing OSD. The car you ordered is almost exactly what I am thinking of ordering later this year (going with blond/black interior).

In Canada, only blonde/black was available on 2015 in two tone sport seats. 2015.5 adds hazel brown/black. As for the packages, same thing, it's different up here according to what our dealers know. There is stil premium+ and Xenons and tech are still an option. Having said that, when we ordered there still wasn't any pricing, so things could change. We ordered with 2015.5 specs expecting 2015 prices. If prices go down like they did in the US with fully loaded Platinum models, we will pay less, but if they go up we are protected.

Oh, and one thing that was important to me is for us and 2015.5, no more sport package, only sport seats can be had. I didn't want to give up the 18" wheels. 20" is a bit too stiff for me spending my days in the car.

Good choice on the wheels. Nothing like 60 profile tires to improve the ride and tolerance of potholes. Also, the sidewall bulge helps to protect the wheels against curb rash, which was a severe problem with our 2004 Saab Aero's 225/45R17 tires and wheels with no rim. I won't miss having to fill gouges and repaint them.

Some of the road tests have observed that cars with 20" wheels have more torque steer, perhaps they have different offset? We have encountered a little torque steer, but don't consider it a problem. It's just a characteristic of higher-powered FWD. See the latest Car & Driver road test.

Yes, I think 20" look great, but the ride must be pretty harsh. I intend to do the same thing, when I order mine - keep the 18". Another big plus is the cost of the tires.

Good point on tire cost. Availability is also an issue, e.g. Nokian WRG3, my favorite winter-rated all season tire, is only available up to 19". And to me, the bigger wheels don't look that great, maybe it's my age (70) :)

:) Some Volvo OEM 20" wheels are very nice looking. "Titania" may not be everyone's cup of tea, but they also have "Cratus", "Avior" (Inscription Pack wheel) or "Talitha" (not available in US).

I think Titania wheels look better as 20" and on an XC60 vs. 18" on the S60 or V60.

You ordered a 2015.5 in May???

By "OSD friendly" you are presumably dealing with Volvo Villa, no?

For what it's worth, I was shopping in late June and no dealer mentioned that a reconfigured car was on the way, except that when I lamented the lack of power lumbar one salesman said that it would be standard in "next year's" model, which I interpreted as 2016, so I ended up buying a 2015 off the lot.

More importantly to me, of course, is the fact that the 2015.5 versions have a navigation system which works. I was in no hurry for a car and would happily have waited for "next year's" model, but it seems that Volvo Canada is trying to unload the old '15s, inasmuch as the website still shows the 2015 as the newest model available.

Of course, it's odd that Volvo would introduce a "2015" model so early in 2014, and then introduce a new model almost immediately. I'm so confused that when I was filling out a form at my doctor's office I entered the date as "2015".
