The car: s60 2.4T 2001

Bringing it to the dealer tomorow but wanted to know what I could visually check. I acted stupid, great wheater, great country road, I've been driving the car a bit heavily. Stopped at an intersection, all was ok, when I want to go, it felt like the exhaust was backfiring like no back pressure, car was stumbling and hesitant and smelt like exhaust fumes.

Google has been a good friend, Im thinking of taking out the ETM to clean it. Also heard about loose or cracked hoses, seemed easy at first but Im finding it hard to know exactly wich ones should be checked..anyone can help?has a diagram? Or ideas as to what else to check? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Did you check the coils?

Thanks for the suggestion, made a short list of possible causes:

battery is disconnected since yesterday.

- Cracked or popped hoses
- Spark plugs
- Ignition coils
- MAF
- ETM
- Fuel filter
- Catalytic converter

Hit a big pothole 500m before the stop where all the problems started so I included the catalytic converter as it may have suffered from the impact.

Did I miss something thats whorty to check ?

Recently (about 3-4 weeks) I went to a straight pipe exhaust setup past the resonator, what could that have caused to go wrong ?

Fixed! Scanned with my fathers obd2 scanner, misfire on cyl #1, the coil was dead. Replaced it, changed all spark splugs, fuel filter, oil and oil filter. Runs like new, Im so relieved!
I knew it! :D Glad to hear you're back up and running!

thats good to know Shinobi. Just try to inspect all the coils to avoid future issues, is really easy to check, look for any crack or flame color on the coil.

Many thanks for the advices! I did inspect them all while they were out for the spark plugs change and they look ok. Cleaned everything and put some paste before plugging the coils on the new Bosch plugs.

Cleaned the whole car and washed it, made me realize how much I love it haha
