I need as many people with a t5 to rev their car to 2k rpms , hold it there, and tell me if the engine is shaking. My car starts with a rough idle.... then between 1000-1950rpms it smooths out .... but when i hit 2-2050 rpms it starts shaking ...... and as it gets past 2050 rpms it smooths out again. Dealer said its normal but im not buying it. Thanks in advance.....

I had this problem a few weeks ago actually. I ran through the tank of gas asap, and used some Chevron Techron in the next tank. I also cleaned my MAF. The combination of the two seemed to work.

Are you tuned? It could be a problem there too.

No tune... did the chevron already.... and i just had the plugs and throttle cleaned by the dealer ( mentioned there was some carbon buildup) and the idle got a bit better but when it hits 2k rpms it still shakes the car. They even updated the software , no codes and its a 05 v50 t5 auto with 45k. Something is wrong , the motor feels like its misfiring , i just need enough people to say that they dont experience the same thing so i can prove its not normal. I wish i didnt have to do this but i need the car fixed already. Thanks again.

I notice this in my car as well.

It was worst at that RPM range when one of my motor mounts had failed. Seen any leaking fluid lately? After replacement it got a lot better, but still noticeable at this same RPM. Must be a resonant frequency.

I have a little noise, vibration at idle only because of the TRZ mount I have installed, once I hit 2K rpm, it's rock steady, no vibration, shake whatsoever at 2K.

Thanks guys.. i appreciate the effort .... They did the top motor mount not long ago and ive been back so many times for the rough idle that i doubt they would miss any other broken motor mounts. Again , just want to know if anyone can duplicate the 2k shakes im experiencing because i find it hard to believe its normal and if it is, then i think im selling the car.

Im going to try and take a video of the engine as soon as i can get an extra set of hands to video it while i hold it at 2k. Weird part is its between 2000 and 2050k , so its a small window but thats when its happening and its very noticable. Thanks again....

Mine will do this if I don't use premium unleaded gasoline.

Experimented with fuel at first when I bought my car new. Regular Unleaded makes my car run like crap (you can feel more engine vibration through the steering wheel and the car really felt lazy on take off). Mid-Grade is so-so and Premium seems to have the best results.

And now that I have found a gas station that sells 100% gasoline; (no ethanol) it seems to run even better.

No noticeable shaking at stated rpm's.

hmm I'll have to try this. I have a shaking noise at idle right now because my a/c broke when its been the hottest week here since last summer. fml. taking it to the dealership tomorrow to get it fixed.

Must be something in the air (or the gas). Last week mine was idling rough and I was just waiting for a CEL. I figured it was time for plugs then I remembered I got gas at some no-name station. This week I filled up at Shell and all is good again.

The rough idle isnt as much of a concern as the shaking. I think whatever is causing the shaking is whats causing any additional rough idle im experiencing. Also its not the gas, been going on too long for it to be the gas. Again, keep em coming but just an fyi... all i need is a yes my car shakes between 2000-2100 rpms or no it doesnt. Thanks again for all the help and suggestions and i hope one day to be able to return the favor. :)

Normal. The 5-cylinder engine has some interesting harmonics and this one causes a lateral up/down movement that can be felt at this rpm. Most of us notice it. It gets worse when the front engine mount (the one the engine hangs from on the passenger-side wheelwell) gets worn. But it's present even when new.
