In a 99' XC should I use a synthetic 75-90w gear oil with volvo's 1161513-5 anti foaming additive in the bevel gear, and a straight 80w GL5 approved oil in the rear diff? I got two part #'s for the rear diff. fluid and they are dependant on the rear Diff. type. Dana requires 1161129-0 while Eaton requires 1161329-6. I gave volvo the vin # and they said I had the rear diff. that requires the 80w GL5 approved oil. Anybody have any experience with these fluids or the procedures for changing them? I heard drilling a 1/4" hole in the bottom stud socket will drain the bevel gear oil, but I would assume I could easily siphon out the oil no? And there should be a drain plug for the rear diff. or is there just a fluid leveling bolt to remove and siphon out the fluid as well?

Front one just get a little hand pump and pump it out and pump new stuff in

Also buy on the Volvo Fluid makes it simple

You can drill and tap the front a plug but the rarity that you do it , kind of doesnt make it worth it .

And the rear ? dont know never did that one

I've never heard of the anti-foaming additive for the bevel gear? The part # I have used for the Angle Gear oil is: 1161648 Fill it with .7 Liters.
It is a bit tough to suction out the fill hole, but it is doable with a pneumatic MyTvac pump, it just takes a bit of time. I did have a drain hole drilled into my angle gear using the Volvo procedure to make things easier the next time around.

As for the rear diff, it takes 1161620 for fluid. The rear diff holds 1.35 L and you'll have to pump it out the same way as the angle gear - through the fill hole.
