Weiterstadt – With the latest e.motion® performance enhancement for the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar, HEICO SPORTIV once more confirms its lead amongst the market’s most reputable engine-tuners. 279 kW (380 hp) and 600 Nm torque provide for a staggering 275 km/h top speed (electronically throttled). That makes the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar by HEICO SPORTIV the world’s fastest and most powerful Volvo approved for use on public highways.
HEICO SPORTIV has been developing and distributing performance enhancements exclusively for Volvo cars since 1995 and lays claim to being the market’s foremost professional Volvo tuner. Nothing has changed here, despite the growing prevalence of vehicles from Polestar. “We see our mission as one of building on Polestar’s performance program, and – founded on high-quality products and a personal service portfolio – to push back the limits of what’s doable even further,” explains HEICO SPORTIV Managing Director, Holger Hedtke. “What’s more logical than to start with a brawny vehicle and turn it into an even brawnier one.”
More performance for Polestar models
With 258 kW (350 hp) and 500 Nm, the series-produced S60 and V60 Polestar model is already loaded with energy, which made it a particular challenge in terms of engine performance optimization. This is enabled by a new generation of HEICO SPORTIV’s e.motion® ECU which, for the first time, allows performance enhancement and a simultaneous increase in the series-configured speed limitation using a single control unit.
HEICO SPORTIV’s e.motion® engine tuning works, as usual, in parallel with the original engine control unit (ECU), operating independently as a second “brain”. This intelligent variant of the horsepower regimen commonly known as chip tuning uses ruthless and harmonious tweaking to fully exploit the three-liter turbo engine’s existing potential. By capturing all the relevant engine data, the supplementary control unit selectively adjusts the relevant parameters, thereby significantly improving acceleration from standstill and in gear, and optimizing the response characteristics, top speed and efficiency.
In figures, this means that the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar achieves: 279 kW (380 hp) at 5,150 rpm and a maximum torque of 600 Nm between 2,400 and 4,600 revs. For the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, the HEICO SPORTIV model takes just 4.5 seconds (series: 4.9 seconds), and only 15.5 seconds pass for it to reach the 200 km/h barrier (series: 17.7 seconds). The propulsion is electronically throttled at 275 km/h. With that, the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar by HEICO SPORTIV is the fastest Volvo with components approved for use on public highways.
Superior performance also for the new Drive-E T6 engine
HEICO SPORTIV also offers a performance enhancement for the new two-liter, four cylinder T6 siblings. The e.motion® engine tuning for the Drive-E T6 engine provides for 250 kW (340 hp) and 470 Nm torque, corresponding to a strapping 70-Nm or circa 18-percent increase over the series value. The performance enhancement starts at EUR 2,404.00 in Germany and is available for the models S60, V60, V70, S80 and XC90. The Euro 6 pollution rating and emissions values are unchanged.
