Lynk&Co 03 Cyan Sends 530 HP to the Front Wheels

Volvo recently announced that all of its new vehicles will be electronically limited to 112 mph (180 km/h) – which it hopes will help it achieve its goal for no one to be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo from a 2020 onward.

But while Volvo is going all safety-crazy, the folks over at Geely’s slightly more exciting brand Lynk & Co have a much less stuffy announcement for us. The Chinese company today debuted its new 03 Cyan Concept, which is essentially a road-going version of the brand’s TCR race car.

Under the hood the Lynk & Co 03 Cyan Concept is a four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged engine making 528 hp and 378 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels (seriously) through a six-speed paddle shifted transmission, while a multi-plate limited slip differential helps get all that power to the ground.
Lynk & Co claims the four-door will hustle from 0-60 mph in 4.4s and from 0-124 mph (200 km/h) in just 10 seconds. It will also top out at 192 mph (310 km/h).

The performance sedan also gets 20-inch wheels, Öhlins adjustable dampers along with 6-piston front brake calipers grabbing huge 14.8-inch ventilated rotors. The rear features 2-piston calipers and 11.4-inch rotors.

“This is a natural step for us together with Lynk & Co. To build a road version of a race car is a great way to learn more about a car and its characteristics,” said Cyan Racing boss Christian Dahl. “This is a performance concept but it might also be a first step towards a performance offer for Lynk & Co customers were we bring what we learn on the track to the road.”

Lynk & Co says development of the 03 Cyan is currently underway in Spain ahead of a potential market launch sometime in the near future. It will make its first appearance at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show later this week.
