Volvo Sales Up Double Digits in Americas for 2019

Sales are up again at Volvo in the Americas, with double-digit growth, the company’s best year in more than a decade in the U.S., big sales in Canada and increases in Latin America.

The total for 2019 was 133,828 cars in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, a gain of 10 percent in the region. Sales in the U.S. alone made up most of the volume, up just over 10 percent year over year at 108,234 units. That marks 12 consecutive months of year-over-year growth for Volvo here and is the best result for Volvo Cars USA since 2007.

Canadian sales were also up, hitting 10,155 for the year, the first time Volvo Canada has topped 10,000 sales since 2005. In Latin America, sales hit 15,439, again nearly 10 percent more than 2018. Brazil saw a gain of 17 percent and Mexico was up 23 percent.

“Achieving double digit growth across the Americas region is something we are very proud of,” said Anders Gustafsson, Senior Vice President, Americas & President and CEO of Volvo Car USA. “Not only does it reflect the dedication and hard work of our employees and retail partners, but it also underlines the strength and importance of the Americas region.”

The biggest seller in the USA was the XC90, up 13 percent from last year. The XC40 was also strong with 17,654 units sold, up 42 percent in the small crossover’s second year of sales.
