The all new Volvo S90 continues testing but it is doing a good job hiding from spy photographers. We are happy for all Volvo enthusiasts out there helping with photos like these photos we received from CarPix.
The Volvo S90 is set for an debut later on this year and will replace the S80. We are also being told that Volvo will follow with the V90 to replace the V70 followed by an XC version to replace the XC70. It will be interesting to see how Volvo will work the badging, would it be the “V90 XC” since “XC90” is the SUV?
Since the S90 is based on the new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, like the all new XC90, Volvo will share most of the powertrain options and assist systems. We expect to see a S90 T8 AWD leveraging the 400hp 4-cylinder forced induction with electric assist configuration. This prototype is still heavily camouflaged but many design cues from the XC90, starting with the “Thor’s Hammer” headlights, will be incorporated. We also expect the interior to resemble the XC90 with Volvo’s new design language and touchscreen center stack.
The XC90 has been a tremendous sales success for the past several months. The all new S90 and V90 vehicles will continue expand sales growth next year.
