Vail, Colorado Police Complete Transition to Fleet of Volvo XC90 Patrol Cars, Get Cooler in Our Book

According to the Vail Daily News via our forums, the Vail Police Department has just switched over from a fleet of Ford Explorer patrol vehicles to a team of 10 Volvo XC90s, delivered through a partnership between the popular ski resort city and Volvo, through which the vehicles were purchased, presumably with a big discount for all the free publicity of Ski Moms seeing XC90s being trusted by public officials.

Police Chief Dwight Henninger reported that his officers are happy with the all-wheel drive capability and huge space inside the XC90s, and that they've been happy with the fuel economy, which has been averaging 17 mpg versus the 13 of their Explorers. Last time we were in Vail, they were using Saab 9-5 sedans. We're happy to see the city has returned to Swedish cars, and that they've picked the right brand this time around. Now they just need to learn the new MOOSE ROLL maneuver.
