2011 Volvo S60 Spied in the Buff Looking Beautiful

While we are certainly sad to see that the S60's production headlights won't resemble viking warships sailing into battle, a new batch of spy photos spreading this morning have us very excited about Volvo's newest sedan. The S60, which was previewed in concept form nine months ago in Detroit has left the womb today prior to its official debut, which we're told is scheduled for the Geneva show next spring before going on sale in the summer of 2010. All we can say is wow, this car is beautiful. Nothing was lost in the transition from concept to production--not even the paint color!

Up front, the S60's grille and headlight treatment is more restrained and elegant than the XC60's or what we've seen thus far from the C70 and C30 redesigns. In back, we're absolutely in love with the sloping roof line that doesn't really settle down until the very edge of the trunk. With a huge piece of rear glass, it doesn't seem like visibility will be hurt by this design. And we're happy to see that the concept wheels have even made it through the process, albeit with a smaller diameter. Look close, and you'll also see the car's CitySafety sensor and a little "AWD" badge on the rear, confirming some included technology. If this is going to be the future of Volvo, it can't come soon enough.
