It’s not exactly a concours, an auto jumble, or an enthusiast show, but the Antique Automobile Club of America Hershey Region National Meet (a.k.a. the Hershey Antique Auto Show) is a little bit of virtually anything old and automotive.
Break it down and there are two main components to the Hershey Antique Auto Show. There’s the four day swap meet that spreads countless vendors over at least three parking lots and two fields in the expansive space around the Hershey Park amusement park. The scope is so wide that you could spend the entire time--Wednesday through Saturday of show week--just perusing old parts, automobilia or the sizable corral of cars for sale.
The second big draw of the AACA week of events in Pennsylvania is the Saturday car show. Hundreds of cars meeting club requirements as antique entries are ushered out onto the former grounds of the adjacent but retired Park View Golf Course for a sort of Concours. We say ‘sort of’ because Hershey’s main event is more encompassing than Concours events we know and love in Pebble Beach, Amelia Island or Greenwich. It’s more inclusive, with everything from the most ancient or original to muscle cars, imports, pickup trucks, commercial vehicles, motorcycles and even a fire truck class this year.

There are other supporting events during the week in Hershey as well. Both Kruse and RM Auctions host auctions in venues near the show where owners and buyers have yet two more ways to come together to create a transaction.
As Volvo events go, Hershey isn’t terribly significant. However, this large event is always good for catching a few representatives of vintage Gothenburg iron and this year marked no exception. Perhaps it was a bit surprising to not spot even one P1800 coupe, though we did see several others including an Amazon and even a 265 on the show field.
