2010 Volvo V70 R-Design: First Real-World U.S.-spec Photos Surface in our Forums

Sorry for the delay--these photos were actually posted last week and we just haven't had a chance to draw attention to them thus far. What you see above, and what you can see more of by clicking the forum link below, is the new-for-2010 V70 R-design package, which includes different wheels, brushed metal trim, and a series of interior upgrades. All we can say is wow; the car looks fantastic, especially with black paint. The C30 R-design is a lovely little machine, but we might venture to say that the V70 might be the best execution yet of the R-design enhancements.

However, it does also bring up a not-so-happy conversation about the car's internals. All V70 R-design cars use the 3.2-liter engine, front-wheel drive, and an automatic transmission. Yes, the sportiest-looking V70 can't be had with all-wheel drive, a turbocharger, or a do-it-yourself trans. Depressing, isn't it? Whether you think so or not, jump to the conversation going on in the forums and you'll find a number of people taking your side in the heated battle. We'll be in there too, but we'll just be drooling over the pictures ignoring what this car should truly be.

Thanks for the photos, Jim.
