Essen 2007: Volvo Perspective

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. The Essen Motor Show is basically the equivalent to America’s SEMA event in Las Vegas… except it isn’t much like it at all. In essence, this is the trade show for the European market just as SEMA is Stateside. But, Essen goes a bit beyond that in that it also caters to the public, with whole halls dedicated to schlepping parts to car enthusiasts and still others selling prime vintage cars. During public show days, car geeks march around, dragging their salivating tongues behind them. The combination makes for more of an enthusiast feel that is a tad less corporate, but it’s still the main aftermarket industry expo for the European market and, like SEMA, there’s always at least a little bit of Volvo content here.
German Volvo tuner Heico Sportiv has been coming to Essen for years. Whether it was their camo C30 last year, their S40 Odin widebody the year before, or countless other studies, the German Volvo specialist has never failed to disappoint at this industry expo.
For 2007, the company continues the momentum, paired this year with Volvo Cars Germany. To help announce official recognition by Volvo, Heico displayed several of their cars within an official Volvo display.
In addition to the brand’s white and orange C30 show car from SEMA, Heico also showed off their latest full-line treatments for the new V70, the recently facelifted V50 and the facelifted XC90. While the XC90 has been shown before, Essen marked the show debut of their V50 and V70 kits.
