You may know that Jerry Seinfeld is an avowed fan of Volvos, but it might you to know that Kristen Wiig (SNL, Ghost Busters, Bride’s Maids) is also a big fan of the brand.
On the first episode of season nine of Seinfeld’s hit web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, he drives Wiig around LA in a 1964 Volvo 122S Amazon.
Immediately, Wiig is delighted by the 122 and comments on its solid construction and beauty.
“Cars are always the most vivid expression of what a culture is all about in the time that it was made,” says Seinfeld. “This car is the essence of great ‘60s Swedish values: honest, hard working, unfussy, not out to impress, and built to last.”
As it turns out, Wiig and her boyfriend agree, as the two bonded over the cars in their early courtship.
“I love the thought of two people getting heated up and jumping into bed over a Volvo,” says Seinfeld, echoing a thought I’m sure we’ve all had.
Unfortunately, the Volvo part of the show kind of fizzles after that leaving only two entertaining people being funny, or whatever.
