Over 40% more Volvos were sold in June 2016 than in Jun 2015, reports Volvo Car USA. Sales grew to 8,454 vehicles, marking the 12th consecutive month that the company has posted double digit sales growth
Sales were led by the award-winning XC90, of which 2,596 were sold. The XC60 crossover, meanwhile, followed, close on its big sister’s heels, with 2,362.
“Twelve months of consecutive double digit sales growth is a significant milestone for VCUSA,” says Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO of VCUSA. “Now we look ahead to the next step in our transformation with the launch of the new S90 sedan.”
Year-to-date sales are, naturally, also up. Sales from January to June are up nearly 25% as compared to last year.
The growth is part of Volvo’s $11 billion transformation plan that has involved the development of its own modular vehicle architecture, on which the XC90, S90, and V90 sit.
