Polestar Performance Software Shows Up on Volvo US Accessories Website

We knew it was definitely coming, but now Polestar performance upgrades are listed among Volvo's North American accessory options for the S60. Pricing rumors have leaked as well, thanks to a forum member who reportedly got a pre-release version of the software. The price will reportedly be $1500 and will be available for any T6-powered S60s and XC60s.
According to the description on Volvo's accessories site, the tune won't change fuel economy and obviously, it doesn't kill any warranties: "All this is offered without an increase in the certified fuel consumption, which means that the the car's environmental impact remains unchanged. . . Polestar Performance Software can be installed by all Volvo dealers without affecting Volvo's original warranty."
So when does the good news finally arrive for T6 owners desiring even more speed? Sources in the Swedespeed forums are saying September, allowing the R-Design cars (which come standard with the boost) to have a short moment in the sun to themselves.
While we're talking about details from the forums, here's what the user who has been running the software has to say: "The difference is incredibly noticeable, especially in Sport mode. The car pulls harder and faster. Acceleration is even more impressive, and once at speed the car seems to keep clawing away at the asphalt. 0-60 times have also improved, around 0.75 seconds faster. In short: wow! The T6 never ceases to amaze me. Adding this software has truly unlocked the power potential of this engine. It's a torque monster, and like the stock mapping, the Polestar tune delivers smooth acceleration and max torque throughout the power band."
This is all great news. While we'll be looking to add the software to our S60 project car, our first test of it will likely come at the beginning of August when we get a first drive opportunity with the new S60 R-Design. We'll have more to report at that point. Click the forum link below for more news and gossip about the software.
