In February 1982 - 30 years ago - the new Volvo 760 GLE was launched. No typical Volvo, yet unmistakably a Volvo. Seen as elegant and exciting with its characteristic design it was well received. The 760 became the car that actually saved Volvo Car Corporation back then and paved the way to the modern company of today.
Driving several hundred miles a week, we crossed over the 11,000-mile mark and we are happy to report, no issues or unexpected service visits. At a recent holiday party, I was asked to sum up the vehicle in one word and my immediate response was, “impressive.”
Volvo aims to move from being an overlooked premium builder squarely into the luxury segment. But it will do so on its own terms, with a unique design philosophy and with a range of exclusively four-cylinder engines.
Media days have just wrapped up at the Frankfurt show in Germany, where Volvo's Concept You drew crowds. Luckily, we found an off time to take photos of it not surrounded by people.
