K-Pax Racing August 27 Infineon Race Two Results

SONOMA, Calif. (Aug. 29, 2011) – Aaron Povoledo drove his K-PAX Racing Volvo C30 to his third Touring Car class win of the season today at the Cadillac Grand Prix of Sonoma. Povoledo’s win brings him – and Volvo – closer to the driver’s points lead and the manufacturers’ points lead.
Povoledo’s teammate, Robb Holland, broke an axle while running in fourth but still remains third in Touring Car points.
In the GT class, the K-PAX Racing Volvo S60s of Randy Pobst and Alex Figge started fourth and 11th but finished Figge finished 11th and Pobst finished 12th. Pobst’s car suffered from an engine management issue and Figge’s car was hampered by similar engine “gremlins” and fading brakes.
“We struggled all weekend to find the right set-up,” Povoledo said, “but this crew worked long hours on Friday and Saturday to put it all together. This win is as much theirs as it is mine. Most importantly, we closed the points gap, and I think we’re in for some great competition at the next race.”
“From a GT perspective, it was a very tough weekend for us,” said K-PAX Team Owner Jim Haughey. “As high as we were after winning at Mid-Ohio, the team was not happy with the results at Sonoma. Believe me, these guys will bounce back and get these GT cars ready to go for Laguna Seca in a couple of weeks.”
After 10 of the season’s 12 races, Povoledo is second in points behind the Touring Class leader, Lawson Aschenbach. Volvo is second behind Honda in manufacturers’ points.
The broadcast featuring Rounds 9 and 10 of the Pirelli World Challenge from Sonoma will air Sept. 18 at 5:30 p.m. EDT on the Versus Network.
